ROTARY CLUB OF SYDNEY-SUNRISE
COMMUNITY & INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS AND DONATIONS 
CHARTERED FEBRUARY 18, 1996

 

Since receiving its Charter in 1996, the Rotary Club of Sydney-Sunrise has worked to provide financial and volunteer support to a variety of local initiatives focused on youth, health, food insecurity, seniors, community infrastructure projects, etc.
 
Fundraising activities such as Rotary Ribfest and the Rotary Golf Tournament enable the Club to provide financial support to several local organizations including the following contributed to in 2023/2024

  • Big Brothers-Big Sisters
  • Salvation Army
  • Transition House
  • Ally Centre
  • Cape Breton Youth Project
  • Every Woman’s Centre
  • Cape Breton Regional Library
  • Push Cape Breton
  • Cape Breton Literacy Coalition
  • Glace Bay Food Bank
  • the food cupboard on Grand Lake Road.
Over the year, the Club also sponsored the Glace Bay and Memorial High School Interact Clubs, funded student participation in Adventures in Citizenship and provided scholarships to students at Glace Bay and Memorial High.
 
Additionally, the Club, since inception, has contributed to several global humanitarian projects in support of world peace, the eradication of Polio, safe drinking water, reduction of poverty and hunger, health and dental care, literacy and other much-needed developing country and disaster relief projects.
