NEW GENERATIONS CHAIR AND COMMITTEE

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Committee role is to support the activities of our Interact Club at Glace Bay High School and, with other area clubs, support the Rotaract Club at Cape Breton University.

Chair is encouraged to engage committee members by ensuring they are assigned tasks. Attention should be paid to having the correct number of members to successfully complete tasks.

Chair shall hold monthly meeting with committee members keeping them informed and up to date on club activities.

Chair (or substitute member) shall attend monthly meeting of Board of Directors reporting on committee activities, seeking their input and advice as and if required.

Chair shall assist nomination process by identifying a candidate for succession. Hold a handover meeting with successor.

Chair and Committee members:

  • Prepare and submit an annual budget. Monitor to avoid going over budget.

 

  • Attend Interact meetings when time permits.Coordinate at least one annual meeting between Club members and Interact.

 

  • Facilitate the selection of student to participate in Adventures in Citizenship if budget permits.

 

  • Budget for annual high school scholarship(s). Ensure scholarship(s) is awarded in the name of a Rotarian if justified, i.e., John Terry.

 

  • Facilitate the selection of two students to attend annual district conference if budget permits.

 

  • Look at options to further engage students in Rotary, i.e., explore possibility of participation in three week student exchanges around the world.

 

  • Chair and committee to attend at least one Rotaract meeting annually.

 

  • Ensure one annual meeting between our club and the Rotaract Club, either at our location or at CBU. Also Rotaract members should be invited to one or more of our project visits, i.e. New Dawn Home and Loaves and Fishes.

 

  • Facilitate anannual gathering between potential CBU attendees from Interact andRotaract members.
